Our Hope Is in Jesus Christ.
A message from Matthew Hocking, President of Hope for Today
On October 27, 2026, my dad, Dr. David Hocking, went home to be with the Lord. Today, we thank God for his life and rejoice that he is in heaven, in the presence of the Savior he loved and proclaimed.
As believers in Jesus Christ, we know we will see him again. What a wonderful promise! The assurance he shared with so many people is the assurance our family holds today:
“And so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:17, KJV)
For decades, my dad encouraged people to open their Bibles, examine the Scriptures, and grow in their knowledge of the Lord. His familiar words expressed the heart of this ministry:
“The Bible, the whole Bible, and nothing but the Bible.”
He wanted people to know Jesus Christ, to understand who He is, what He accomplished through His death and resurrection, and the everlasting life He gives to those who trust Him.
He also reminded us of the source of every blessing:
“There’s nothing that you and I have that does not come from God’s wonderful grace.”
We have so much to thank Him for, and so much good news to share.
Hope for Today will continue, and we invite you to be part of what comes next.
Through our radio broadcasts, online messages, and extensive collection of his Bible teaching, we will continue bringing the Scriptures to people who need the hope found in Jesus Christ. There are longtime listeners ready to grow deeper in their faith, and people who have yet to hear the Gospel. We want to reach them.
Let this be a time of renewed purpose for all of us. Open your Bible. Share what you are learning. Send a message from our teaching library to someone who needs encouragement. Contact our office about volunteering. Pray for opportunities to tell someone about Jesus, and take those opportunities when they come.
Each of us have people in our lives we can reach; A friend, neighbor or someone in our own family. Let’s encourage one another to speak with love, serve with joy, and make the good news of Jesus Christ known.
To everyone who has stood with Hope for Today through the years, thank you. Whether you have been listening for decades or have just found us, we welcome you to continue this work with us.
We will share official family and ministry updates here on this website.
My dad is home with the Lord. We look forward to seeing him again. And today, God has given us another opportunity to open His Word and share His wonderful salvation.
Let’s make the most of it, for the sole glory of Jesus Christ.
With gratitude and confidence in our risen Savior,
Matt Hocking and the Hope for Today team
